Scheduling
Reservations are required. Please complete the tour reservations form. Please indicate any special needs your students may have. Reservations must be sent no less than 2 weeks in advance.
Tours are available Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special exceptions may be made. Please inquire.
Tours are not available on State, Federal, and Longwood University holidays.
These dates include:
- New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Day
- Longwood University Spring and Fall Breaks
- Memorial Day and Labor Day
- Independence Day
- Thanksgiving holiday (Wednesday through Sunday)
- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

A tour confirmation will be mailed 1-2 weeks after receipt of reservation. If we are unable to accommodate your group you will be contacted immediately.
Group Size
Groups are limited to 45 per hour. Groups will be spilt into smaller groups of 15-20 to insure an effective teaching environment is maintained during the visit. Faculty should plan on attending with their class.
Faculty Attendance
Faculty members or their student assistant must accompany tours.
Cancellations
Please check your syllabus for test dates, holidays, special activities, etc. before scheduling your tour. If you must cancel a tour, please call 434-395-2648 immediately so that volunteer docents assigned to your group may be notified.
Admission
Tours are offered for free.
Entrance
Enter only at the LCVA main entrance on the corner of Third and Main Streets in downtown Farmville. There is limited public parking adjacent to the LCVA. Please pay particular attention to signs designated as restricted parking. Metered parking is available on Main Street. Some free parking is available in the municipal parking behind the courthouse across the street from LCVA.
Visit Preparation
Prepare your students to look at and discuss works of art prior to your visit. Please discuss your students’ educational needs with the LCVA museum educator prior to your visit to ensure that educational objectives are met during the visit. The LCVA enjoys designing tours to fit every course.
