Together, Again is a collection of magical, familiar, and tender moments found in the work of Cozbi A. Cabrera. This artist, dollmaker, quilter, and author takes notice and finds meaning present in everyday experiences. Whether cooking a meal, doing your hair, or walking in the rain, the soul is nurtured and cultivated in our mundane.
Rooted in family, shared memories, and the warmth from care, Cabrera’s themes are present in a variety of mediums. Her paintings, textiles, and dolls bring moments of joy, strength, and guidance found in family and friends. These mediums, stitched together like a quilt, bring parts together and form moments filled with stories, remembrance, and hope.
The world can be an unexpected and challenging place, but with Cabrera’s stories and pictures we find gifts of wonder and treasured objects of comfort. Through this exhibition you are invited to experience the world through Cabrera’s eyes and hands – where pictures speak, detail breathe, and stories found on canvas and cloth reaffirm what is near and dear to our heart.
This exhibition celebrates the 10th iteration of the LCVA’s annual Arts and Letters exhibition series. Showcasing the best in the art of children’s literature, this exhibition is proudly presented in conjunction with the Virginia Children’s Book Festival.
