"Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference."

Donor funding to the LCVA comes in many forms. From supporting programming and events that bring together our community, to funding that allows us to preserve and care for works of art, our donors allow for the sharing, preservation, and enhancement of the arts.

Collections Care

Collections care is one of the most important roles of an art museum. Storing art is often a challenge for all museums due to the need for environmental controls that preserve the integrity of art work for future generations.

Two opportunities for a transformational gift for our collections have been identified:

  • Funding to support improvements to our physical infrastructure would help us meet best professional practices, achieved through installation of museum quality, high-density mobile art storage racks, and cabinets that double our existing storage capacity.
  • An endowment to support collections care, including preservation materials, conservation care, and curatorial research would ensure critical annual support.

Programming Support

The LCVA’s programmatic activities offer several giving opportunities.

  • Throughout the years, the LCVA has steadily increased its inclusive programming through outreach to underrepresented constituencies, while simultaneously improving organizational capacity through the establishment of endowments to support educational staffing positions. In the past five years, our service area has grown from eight to 14 counties in Virginia. Our outreach programming includes adults with developmental disabilities, young adults (an often-overlooked segment in museum programming), and individuals with speech and hearing impairments.
  • Gifts to our programming endowment provide annual support for the LCVA’s vibrant and innovative programs ensure the longevity of exceptional programming, and support staff in their research and development of new and responsive programs to reach those in our community who are underrepresented in our current program initiatives (homebound seniors, individuals with autism, and the very young).

Friends & Partners

We have Friends & Partners from all segments of our community, which extends well beyond South Central Virginia. All of our Friends & Partners help us achieve excellence in our programming and educational initiatives. Please see each specific Friends & Partners Level for an idea of what we are able to do with your generous gifts. All of our Friends & Partners receive early access to LCVA events.
