LCVA is thrilled to have the support of our 2020 'Dream' gala sponsor, Benchmark Community Bank!
Helen Person, Vice President and Director of Marketing, says that Benchmark supports the LCVA because, "An appreciation for the visual arts is something too many individuals and organizations leave up to someone else to support. Longwood Center for the Visual Arts provides a bridge for people of all ages to explore the visual arts for expansion of their personal and professional horizons. How can you not love it when the little ones in your life come home with something they created during an LCVA event?"
Helen mentioned that, "Through the Gala, local patrons gather to celebrate the visual arts. It’s a fun social event, as well as an opportunity to network resources they can pool to expand focus on the arts in the Longwood service area."
As a community bank, Benchmark and its employees sincerely want to be involved in and support a vibrant quality of life in the communities they serve. Benchmark's employees love volunteering for community events, civic organizations, and other opportunities that contribute to the character and culture of their hometowns. Those relationships are precious and have become woven throughout the fabric of the Benchmark culture.
Admission to the LCVA and its programs is—and always has been—free for everyone. In addition to presenting inspiring and conversation-starting exhibitions within our walls, we take the LCVA on the road to bring interdisciplinary programs to more than 60 public, private and home schools in 14 South Central Virginia counties. Each year our educators travel more than 2,500 miles to bring the visual arts to thousands of PreK-12 students in the community! While the LCVA is generously supported in part by Longwood University, approximately 60% of our operating budget is derived from private individuals, businesses, and charitable foundations.
