Elizabeth McAdams is in the Working Artist Program here at Longwood. Her woodfired porcelain and gas fired stoneware pieces are meant to create a moment of beauty with elements from nature.
"I hope to create a moment of beauty with the unity of clay and natural elements. My recent series is an exploration of sculptural vessels to be used for the ancient Japanese style of flower arranging known as Ikebana. The Ikebana style of arranging strives for an integral harmony between the vessel and the flowers used together to create a perfectly balanced piece of art."
Point of Departure is on view until May 15th.
