When the movie Sommersby, starring Jodie Foster and Richard Gere, was being filmed in Virginia locales from Farmville to Bath County in 1992, Ann Lyne requested permission to sketch on location at the Warm Springs set. Several works from the resulting Sommersby series, depicting behind-the-scenes doings in the actors’ dressing rooms, are on display.

Lyne frequently sketched on the sidelines of artistic productions. Several drawings she made during rehearsals of the Richmond Symphony and the chamber music festival at Garth Newel can be seen in the lobby of Wygal Hall, home to the music department, on Longwood’s campus.
