Present Continuous: Longwood University Department of Theatre, Art, and Graphic & Animation Design Faculty Exhibition

August 25, 2022 to November 20, 2022

Present Continuous: Longwood University Department of Theatre, Art, and Graphic & Animation Design Faculty Exhibition highlights the innovation and creativity found in the diverse group of artists, designers, illustrators, and performers who guide their students along paths of artistic discovery during their time at Longwood. In addition to teaching, all of the faculty engage in the contemporary discourse within their respective fields.  The collective connection to craft, rigor, and material reflects the wide range of practices and inquiry found within graphic and animation design, visual, and the performing arts.

Like their colleagues in other academic disciplines at Longwood University, art department faculty members teach full loads throughout the academic year and conduct research in their areas of specialty. For the art department, that means delving into the process of creating works of art aesthetically and technically. As they instill in (and insist from) their own students, their work is grounded in exceptional craftsmanship and use of materials which support the meaning and intent of their work. The range of service to Longwood and experience in the field of art is great; all have a deeply felt commitment to their professions as educators and artists. This year’s participants include Mark Baldridge, Angela Bubash, Kathy Calhoun, Keith Cummings with Ren Barnes, Kerri Cushman, Donovan Douglas, Randy Edmonson, Trish J Gibson, Alex Grabiec, Matt Keener, Wade Lough, Kelly Nelson, Adam Paulek, Christopher M. Register, Lauren Rice, and Ronda Scarrow.

Present Continuous is on view through November 20.
