General Education Film Series

The General Education Film Series, managed by Wade Edwards (French) and David Shoenthal (Mathematics), shows foreign and/or independent films that explore themes not commonly found in box-office offerings. Created by Shoenthal and Anna Cox, the series finds films that support the conceptual foundation of the General Education program.  Support for the series comes from General Education, the LCVA, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Two main goals of the Film Series are to provide opportunities to increase students’ cultural, artistic, and information literacy by presenting films that contain themes not commonly found in Hollywood cinema and to foster interdisciplinary understanding and critical thinking through the medium of independent and foreign cinema.
