PURPOSE: The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts is resuming its annual Community Achievement in the Arts Award in the spring of 2017. The awards honor an individual, a non-profit organization, and a business that have made a significant and selfless contribution to the development of the arts in Southside Virginia, including Amelia, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward Counties.
CRITERIA: Nominees must have made contributions to one or more of the visual, performing or literary arts, and these contributions must have had an ongoing impact on the community. Some examples of eligible contributions would include:
- educating and/or advocating
- program development
- youth and/or adult services
- festivals and events
- presentations, workshops, lectures
- staff development
GUIDELINES: Nominators may submit as many nominations as they wish. Nominations for previous awardees will be considered only if the award was given before 2007. A list of previous awardees is available from LCVA’s website here.
Awardees will be selected by the CAA Nominating Committee and approved by LCVA’s Executive Director.
