Kaitlyn Sullivan is a graphic design major at Longwood. Her series, Graves’ Disease is currently on display in Point of Departure Exhibition.
“The focus of my project centers on Graves’ disease that affects the thyroid in men and women and results in an overactive thyroid. This disease has personally affected my life because my sister was diagnosed with it her senior year of high school. The goals were to bring awareness to people who may not know what it is and to help patients who have been recently diagnosed with this disease. I designed a brochure, a website, a workbook, as well as a poster. It is recommended that the poster be hung in doctor’s office and the brochures and workbooks given to patients who had just been diagnosed with Graves’ disease as a way for them and their families to receive more information and their treatment options. The website has been made available so they can refer back to it just in case they lose the brochure or workbook. I chose Graves’ disease as my topic for this project in order to raise awareness and help people and their families who have been diagnosed, and to help them understand that they are not alone.”
Point of Departure is on display until May 17.
